This webinar, presented by Dr. Benoit Desjardins, explored the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity in healthcare. It highlighted the exponential growth of cyberattacks targeting healthcare systems, emphasizing the need for robust cybersecurity measures. The presentation detailed various types of cyberattacks, including network intrusion, DDoS attacks, malware, and phishing, and discussed traditional cyber defenses such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and malware detection.  

The webinar then delved into the role of AI and deep learning in cybersecurity, explaining the concepts of neural networks, model training, and discriminative vs. generative models. It showcased how AI can be used to detect network intrusion, DDoS attacks, malware, and phishing, and provided real-world examples of AI successfully thwarting cyberattacks.  

The presentation also discussed the potential of generative AI (GenAI) in cybersecurity, including its ability to write computer code, generate fakes, find flaws, and simplify data. It concluded by summarizing the advantages and limitations of AI/DL in cybersecurity
